a couple posts ago i mentioned that i was going to stay in charlotte and start seeking full-time employment, hoping to find a position in a company i really was passionate about and start at the bottom with the hope of working my way up the longer i stay there.
thankfully, right after i started thinking in this direction, the lord opened up an opportunity! a friend mentioned to me about an apple store coming to northlake mall and i decided to apply. applied, got called back by a recruiter, phone interviewed with the recruiter, got a second interview with the store manager of the new store. all of this went very well. then i had to wait for a week and was told to receive a call the following monday or tuesday that would let me know if i got the job or not. monday rolled around... nothing. tuesday morning... nothing. finally late in the afternoon on tuesday afternoon after i'd almost given up about hearing from them, i got an email from the manager asking for me to fill out a final application and the next day i gave them information to process a background check. i had to be patient and wait for almost a week longer than i thought i would have to... but last week, the manager called me up and offered me a part-time position as a "specialist" at the new store. (specialists are the people working the floor helping to sell the products.)
i was actually really glad that they hired me part-time because that means i can (hopefully) continue to work my part-time hours at my church as the receptionist - a position i love. so now, with two part-time jobs equaling full-time work and pay, i will be able to start the process of saving up and preparing for possible changes next year like newer car and moving out and getting an apartment. i am really excited about what the next year will bring!
in other news...
1. i bought myself an iphone for my birthday. birthday gifts you give yourself are always the best.
2. on july 9th i turned 22. it felt older than i thought it would, but i've gotten used to it. although "twenty-two" is kind of fun to say, i hate even numbers, so i'm gonna be glad when i turn 23. 30s are going to be fab - always an odd number in there. in any case, i celebrated by having a little shindig with close friends.
3. in july there were lots of yummy lunches at bravo with momma and we've gone to a slew of movies that i've really liked. i'll do a post about them later. we've also been watching pbs's new series "zen" with rufus sewell (my favorite) and sytycd. i like sytycd this year, but i'm not sure if i'll watch it next year. the series is loosing my interest (actually all competition shows are).
4. this past saturday i finished up an 8-week girls bible study i did on proverbs. the study went well and i'm glad i was able to do it.
5. i've been to a few crossway softball games the past 2 mondays, which was fun. made me wonder why i never went to them the whole season... oh well. better late than never.
6. last friday was the bon iver concert in raleigh. friends went. i didn't. i kicked myself. i have no idea what i was thinking that say i thought about it and ended up thinking "nah". one of life's big mistakes. hopefully they'll come around again sometime.
7. got a haircut last thursday - shorter for the end of summer. its just too hot. when the cool comes back around i'll be keeping my long hair - i miss it. it was just too much hair for a charlotte summer, especially this charlotte summer (so hot!).
8. last saturday was my best friend mindy's baby shower. we did a co-ed bbq shower, which turned out really well i thought. we put up fun balloon banners.
9. i'm still enjoying reading tons of books. right now i'm continuing count of monte cristo, dug down deep, and shop class as soulcraft. liking all three.

10. i'm going with friends to see MAROON 5 tonight!!!! AHHHH. i'm really excited. i love them. its going to be a fantastic concert. if you aren't going, you're missing out. i will leave you with one of their songs. happy tuesday.
