i finally got a turntable/record player (i ended up going with the audio technica at-lp60). i'm so excited to see it sitting on my dresser. one day i will hook up magnificent speakers to it and it will fill my whole house with beautiful music. for now i got a great ipod speaker dock and hooked it up via the auxiliary.
and it was only fitting for my very first vinyl to be my favorite album of my favorite band.
also - earlier today i finally got to meet mr. isaac coleman. he's a cutie pie. i was glad to finally see his little face and hug his momma. he was very popular with the nurses while i was there - little heartbreaker.
be praying for him tomorrow as he has a big surgery to put the shunt into his head to continue to drain the fluid from his brain. for a full update on his mom's blog, click here.
now, off to watch some mad men and then bed. night folks.
i've taken a break from watching television and started reading again. when i left 'the count of monte cristo' about a month ago, i was about halfway through and monsieur count was just introducing himself to the parisian society. i'm a few chapters back in now and the break renewed my excitement for it. i plan to finish it by the end of the month.
i also am super excited to read the millennium trilogy, which i have just ordered off amazon. i love brand new books. i can't wait for them to get here on thursday. i want to read them all before the movie comes out - which looks fantastic. the movie looks pretty intense, but i'm thinking if i know the story i could handle the movie. we'll see.
speaking of trilogies... i have gotten my whole family hooked on 'the hunger games'.. they're fighting over them now. i love those books. i can't wait for the movie to come out next year.
and along the lines of another trilogy - i already have my ticket for 'breaking dawn' which comes out in a few weeks. can't wait!!!
in other news... isaac is still stable in the NICU and you can read the most recent update on him here. i've still yet to be able to meet him, but hopefully that will happen this week sometime. i was gonna go see him yesterday, but little guy had a lot of doctors visiting him, so it didn't work out. i'll meet him soon though and i'll tell him we were just saving the best for last. ;)
i just placed my pre-order on amazon for steve jobs' biography. i can't wait to read it. he was an incredible man. what he accomplished in 35 years is astounding to me. when i actually think of it, i owe him not only my enjoyment and productivity from using my apple products, but also my job and my career. thanks steve. we'll miss you.
in remembrance of steve, all the apples above the retail stores remain unlit until tomorrow (friday) morning.
i highly suggest people plan a weekly fun activity on mondays - it starts the week off wonderfully.
on monday, mom and i went to see 50/50. we loved it. i love seth rogen more than ever.
on the book front, i haven't really been reading books lately. oops. i have figured out that i'm either completely into tv shows or completely in to books - i don't do both at one time. i've been having an ongoing mad men marathon. i'm half-way through season 4. once i'm done with that i plan on picking 'the count of monte cristo' back up and finishing that sucker. then i want to read 'the girl with the dragon tattoo'. if you have any book suggestions, comment and let me know.
and as a side note i have to say - i'm adoring the new format of bloglovin. if you haven't discovered bloglovin for following blogs, you're missing out. go check it out.
little isaac was a trooper yesterday and did well in both surgeries yesterday. the surgeons were able to do all they had hoped and the surgeries could not have gone better. there will be a couple follow up surgeries to the surgeries that happened yesterday, but those won't be for a few weeks probably. for now isaac just gets to recover and get adjusted to life! praise the lord for how he watched over every detail of yesterday and protected isaac in all of his surgeries!
"I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are Your works; my soul knows it very well." Psalm 139:14
